(iii) The SPPA shall serve as a vehicle whereby concerns affecting the current and future welfare of postgraduate students attending Scottish universities and organizations may be expressed and further, where this meets with a consensus, communicated to the relevant body or organization.
i) Membership of the SPPA shall be open to any person pursuing a course of postgraduate studies in philosophy or in a related subject, on condition that said course is based in Scotland.

ii) In addition, there shall remain open seven places which may be taken up by duly elected ordinary members of the committee.
iii) Election to, and, should occasion arise, dismissal from, any one of these positions shall be by a majority vote cast at a general meeting. However, should one of these positions fall vacant at any time, the management committee may co-opt any eligible member, duly proposed and seconded, to fill such a vacancy for the interim period leading up to the next general meeting.
i) At a general meeting the current standing, future heading, and financial situation of the SPPA shall be open for discussion, along with any other matters pertinent to the role and aims of the association.
ii) A general meeting, open to all members of the SPPA shall be held at each conference meeting. Elsewise, a general meeting may be convened at any other time, either at the direction of the management committee or at the written request of at least three of the SPPA's members, the proposal for such a meeting being proposed to the management committee at least twenty-one days in advance of its scheduled date. Notice of any general meeting shall be conveyed to members at least fourteen days in advance of its scheduled date.
iii) Items which members wish to be placed on the agenda of an up-coming meeting, including any proposals to elect a member to a position on the management committee, should reach the secretary at least seven days prior to the scheduled date of said meeting.
iv) The secretary shall arrange for minutes to be taken at each general meeting, these minutes to be made available on request to any interested party from the secretary.
i) Only full members shall be eligible to vote.
ii) Voting at all general meetings shall be by a show of hands, unless a ballot vote is requested.
